Narration(Kore): I make my way back to the room he gave me.

Narration(Kore): ...but I never really escape him.

Narration(Kore): And it keeps beating...

Narration(Kore): ...and beating...

Narration(Kore): It takes an hour for the adrenaline to bleed away, but it does eventually.

Narration(Kore): I managed to pilfer the cigarettes from the maid. I guess Xander tries her patience too.

Narration(Kore): How he'd stared at these marks! Too innocent to guess what they really meant. That was good. He shouldn't have to face such things. No one should.

Narration(Kore): ...and I shouldn't have had to face a destiny like he'd been given.

Narration(Kore): I need psychic limits.

Narration(Kore): This all-spanning telepathy feels so similar to the depersonalization...of unbearable pain...pain to make me forget...that I'm alive.

Narration(Kore): All things I'd experienced and overcome... or so I thought.

Narration(Kore): Now there are no clear edges between my mind...and his.

Narration(Kore): and the distinctions are growing fainter with every use of this...terrible...addictive power.

characters: mostly Kore, Xander

episode recap:

Kore walks back alone to the set of rooms that Xander's been stashing her in since about episode 7.  She does not turn on the lights but there's some nice candles. She sinks to the floor while trying to recover from the huge rush she's experienced what with Xander being all charming for a change.  Then she steals the maid's cigarette stash-- she's super good at finding stashes of this junk eh? -- and instead of lighting it, spends all this time doing sleight-of-hand with it as a kind of a nervous tic.  Meanwhile she decides that telepathy is really addictive, that Xander is really addictive, and that she should know better than to give in to addictions.  By the end though, her mind is across the palace doing some snooping.  She's weak.  Wwweeeeaaaaakkkkk...
