Marozi: Why diamonds?

Kore: I have my reasons.

Narration(Marozi): And the only sign of the slaughter of two hours ago is the line of suture across her face and the haunted look in her eyes.

Marozi: Then why didn't you get rid of that?

Kore: Oof. I guess I've got to face the mirror sometime...

Marozi: You telepaths do beat all. Utter lack of fuss.

Kore: I wouldn't say that... Now I look even more like a horse. Mrs. Scarface. Think he'll leave me alone yet?

Marozi: You're planning on stubbornly clinging to that scar to mock Xander with. Like a badge of honor. Is it the first real scar you've ever received?

Kore: No, it certainly isn't.

Marozi: If you think you'll prove a point to him by keeping it, you underestimate his callousness.

Kore: Maybe you underestimate his shallowness.

Kore: I learned a lot from those quickly-accepted diamond bribes of yours. Phenomenally played, I bow before the master.

Marozi: You're welcome. And don't.

Kore: That was awfully fast.

Marozi: ?

Kore: Xander. Smashed me up awfully fast...too fast...he is...an unexpected development...

Author Notes:

Kore's gonna learn this lesson well too.  She won't underestimate Xander again.  Watch out Ves she's got a bead on you now.

Patreon last week was...hmm...an extra comic strip where Kore and Xander show off some superpowers. Spoilers: Xander's superpower is terrible jokes.  A first look at the next 3d set that we're working up for the next section, with a bit more insight into how the inmates on Eynhallow live. The Lake Merritt walkthrough with my hindsight-is-20-20 analysis on what I did so awfully wrong.  A masterclass on the genius seascape painter Charles Vickery, where I sob openly for joy.  AND an alternate super-high-res bonus pic for this week with Xander in it and some of his history pre-Eynhallow.
