Allyson: That tree fell right on top of me! I nearly died!

Qureshi: What a stroke of luck that you didn't!

Allyson: I'm so honored. It isn't every day that we get to come to the aid of a diamond warrior.

Marozi: Don't...don't...curtsey...

Qureshi: I've had Gregory hand out free coffee to everyone who was traumatized. Disaster relief programs are always good for business.

Allyson: This won't hurt a bit, Kore.

Marozi: It looks infected.

Qureshi: Take out the staples.

Allyson: Maybe we should cut back the hair.

Kore: I don't think that would be a good idea.

Kore: Your Resistance, why do you fight him?

Qureshi: No one has a right to rule Eynhallow except Eynhallow herself. We diamond warriors dedicate our lives to that struggle as monks. Because it means so much...freedom. In the end, our integrity and our hope for a brighter future will win the day.

Allyson: All done, dear.

Kore: You misunderstand Mr. Qureshi, what is your goal, your end game?

Qureshi: We resist by harmlessly slipping our agenda into the workgroups. By smuggling books. Educating people.

Marozi: By living a free life for all to see!

Kore: How is that functionally different from knuckling under? What happens when you win?

Qureshi: In the end, we are freed. No more tyranny. No more Xander.

Kore: You think you have a prayer against this guy? What would you do without him?

Qureshi: That sounded like a car wreck!

Narration(Kore): I suppose at this point some part of me knew that everything had changed. Sights, sounds, the sensations of everyone around me, things I should never have felt, but now would have been blind without. That was a part of the trap.

Thought(Kore): That scream...

Narration(Kore): It wasn't just that I felt it...without knowing how, I was causing it.

Thought(Kore): What have I done?

Narration(Kore): That was the moment I knew that he'd forced me to need his help. Forced me to need him...

Author Notes:

if you're driving your car and a tree suddenly falls down, try not to watch, eyes on the road, hands at ten and two.
