Chateau Grief 274

Xander: You’d be surprised to learn that if I reversed the procedure…you would die of a massive cranial hemorrhage.

Xander: Pieces of your brain washed away in the sea.

Xander: You’re not…entirely….who you were before.

Xander: I’d hate to have an entire afternoon’s efforts go to waste…but if you really want me to kill you…

Xander: You only need to ask.

Xander: I have every right to be furious with myself for letting you live. Seven lives snuffed out through carelessness.

Xander: Who knows how many more before this is all over. There’s a lot of smoke in the air today.

Shane: Teach me then.

Xander: All right. Re-light that.

Xander: Torch it.

Author Notes:

Torch everything.

characters: Xander, Shane

Episode Recap:

I dunno, I feel like Xander’s opening up here a bit.  He’s a really frustrating character to deal with, you know?  Anyways, Shane is crying on Xander’s shoulder. Xander pulls away and gives the very first explanation ever of why this is all going on and why he won’t heal Shane.  Or can’t.  And then we’re back to threatening people with sharp claws, making cryptic statements about events that are simultaneously occurring in other locations, talking way over people’s heads and behaving like a lout.  Shane did just kill a bunch of people though, and Xander’s cut up about this in an unexpected way, he blames himself for the whole situation.  For the guy who walked out of the room at the point of crisis like that, it feels like it was a harder choice for him to make than it seemed at the time when he was all looking smug for the cameras (read: Kore). Alone with his doppelgänger, the illusions are shattering, and everyone is walking through the mirror.  Then Shane asks for a training montage.  Training montage!  Don’t get excited though, this is Xander we’re talking about.  Yes apparently they both lack the ‘appropriate conversational distancing reflex’, I know.
