Chateau Grief 304

Kore: Look, let me take away the pain at least!

Di: No! No no no no…don’t you touch me! You really are— you really are—

Di: You can just walk away from all this, but I can’t! I’m going to die and you’re going to live on and on. And you’re stronger than me, you’re richer than me, you’re smarter than me and — I’m going to grow old and hurt and you never will.

Di: And all this…this stuff must just be so meaningless to you but I care about living and I don’t want to die! And when I saw them…when I saw him, and the water and…and…

Di: I thought he’d killed you!

Kore: Shh…it’s not real. None of this is real,

Kore: It’s all a game. Don’t be an idiot. Let me heal you.

Kore: You tell her! You’ve let Xander help you thousands of times and it’s not a big deal!

Kore: He fixes your car. He fixes your knees. It has never made you less of a person!

Grant: He’s never fixed my knees.

Kore: If you weren’t so proud, Rhelan, he’d tell you a lot more of what he does.

Author Notes:

Old wounds opening up.  Except not literally.  That's the problem.

Characters: Kore, Grant, Di

Episode Recap:

Kore’s got to work on her bedside manner a bit, don’t you think?  Anyways, Di is like, Experimental medical treatment? How about a resounding no?  Di is not making great amounts of sense, but she’s trying to work her way around to the point.  Kore’s a telepath now and she’s out of the trials and travails of life.  She’s passed that veil.  I mean, she wasn’t exactly the most blue-collar working class person everyman before, so it’s just a little bit further of a step off the planet for her, but Di feels like she’s been left behind.  Oh joy, oh rapture.  Di says Kore just can’t understand because of who she is and was and has become.  Which is probably fair, and Kore doesn’t take it personally.  She tries to tell Di that everything is tied into this massive chess game that Xander set up for everyone on day one, remember way back in chapter 1 when he was gloating over doing that?  Kore keeps trying to convince Di to let her heal her.  She turns to Grant for backup, and Grant does not bite.  Grant appears to be in a bit of denial about Xander and his meddling too.  Kore confirms that Grant has been lied to by Xander about this and Grant takes his hat off and treats it badly.  Poor hat.
